How to prune panicle hydrangea 'pinky winky'

Late winter to early spring, after the worst frosts have passed but before new growth starts (February–April depending on climate). Cut all stems back to 30–45 cm from the ground, ending just above a healthy pair of buds, for the largest blooms. Alternatively, remove only the previous year's flowered tips to the first strong pair of buds if you prefer a larger shrub with more, smaller panicles.

Annually for best flower size and structure. Pinky Winky blooms on new wood, unlike most hydrangeas, which makes it one of the easiest to prune. It can be cut back hard each late winter or early spring for large, well-spaced flower panicles, or pruned more lightly for more numerous smaller blooms. Skipping a year will not prevent flowering.
