How to prune delphinium 'pacific giant'

Cut main spikes after first flowering (early to midsummer); cut all growth to ground level in autumn. After main spike flowers fade, cut the spike back to a healthy side-shoot node or to about 12 inches above ground — side shoots will develop into secondary flowering stems. In autumn, cut all stems down to 2–3 inches above the crown once foliage has died back.

Twice per season: once mid-flower, once in autumn. Delphinium 'Pacific Giant' produces tall main spikes that should be cut back after the first flowering to prompt a second flush. Once the main spike petals drop, cut the whole spike down to where lateral side-shoots are visible. After the season ends, cut all stems to near ground level. Staking is essential but not pruning.
