How to prune olympiad rose

Late winter to early spring (just as forsythia blooms), then deadhead after each flush. Cut back to 12–18 inches, removing dead, crossing, and weak canes to leave 4–6 healthy outward-facing canes. Deadhead spent blooms just above the first 5-leaflet leaf to promote reblooming.

Annually (hard prune); deadhead every 1–2 weeks during bloom season. Olympiad Rose needs annual pruning to maintain its vigorous hybrid tea habit and encourage large, long-stemmed blooms. Prune hard in late winter to open-center framework of 4–6 canes, then deadhead throughout the season. Without pruning, plants become leggy and bloom quality declines noticeably.
