When should I prune moth orchid?
After all flowers on the spike have dropped. Use a sterile blade or scissors. Cut the spike above a healthy node for a possible rebloom, or to the base if the spike is brown or yellow. Never cut healthy green leaves.
How often does moth orchid need pruning?
After each bloom cycle; as needed for dead leaves. After the last flower drops, cut the spike just above the second or third node from the base — a secondary spike may branch from that node and rebloom. If the spike yellows, cut it to the base. Otherwise, Phalaenopsis needs no routine pruning beyond removing yellowed or damaged leaves at their base.
