As needed when rootstock pups appear. Moon Cactus is a grafted novelty — the colorful Gymnocalycium top is permanently joined to a rootstock (usually Hylocereus). No pruning is possible or useful. Simply remove any offsets (pups) that sprout from the rootstock to keep energy directed to the graft. Dead spines or dried tissue can be left alone.
