How to prune loganberry

Late summer to autumn after harvest (August–October). Cut all canes that bore fruit to ground level immediately after picking. Select 6–8 strong new canes and tie them in a fan pattern to wires, removing the rest. In late winter, shorten any over-long canes to 3–4 m to keep the plant manageable.

Annually, after fruiting. Loganberry is a floricane hybrid cane fruit — canes fruit once in their second year, so cutting out fruited canes each autumn and training new ones is the key annual task. Without it plants become densely tangled and disease-prone. Thornless and thorned varieties follow the same pruning logic.
