How to prune licuala orbicularis

Any time a frond fully dies off. Cut a dead frond at the very base of its petiole with clean, sharp scissors or pruners. Leave all green or partially green fronds in place — they continue to contribute to the plant's health even when ageing.

Rarely — only when individual fronds die. Licuala orbicularis (Round Licuala Palm) is a statement houseplant prized for its near-perfect circular fronds. It needs virtually no pruning — only remove fronds that have turned entirely brown. Never trim the circular blade to 'neaten' edges; cut fronds are permanent and disfiguring on this species.
