When should I prune kohlrabi?
No pruning required; harvest whole when bulb is 5–7 cm across. Remove individual yellowing or damaged leaves by snapping them off cleanly at the base if needed. Harvest the whole plant before the bulb becomes woody — there is no benefit to partial pruning or tip removal.
How often does kohlrabi need pruning?
Leaf removal as needed; no pruning regime required. Kohlrabi needs no pruning. It is grown for its swollen stem base, not for repeated harvests. Remove any yellowing or damaged outer leaves during growth to improve airflow, but do not cut the plant itself — simply harvest the whole plant when the swollen bulb reaches 5–7 cm diameter. Pruning is not a relevant concept here.
