How to prune jasminum beesianum

Immediately after flowering in late spring to early summer. Cut back flowered stems by one-third to a healthy lateral or bud. Remove up to one-quarter of the oldest canes at ground level each year to stimulate fresh, floriferous growth from the base.

Annually after flowering. Jasminum beesianum (red jasmine) benefits from pruning after flowering to keep it from becoming a tangled mass. Cut flowered shoots back by one-third and remove the oldest, woodiest stems at the base to encourage vigorous new growth. Without occasional thinning it becomes congested and flower quality declines.
