After any individual rosettes flower and die back, typically midsummer. Gently peel dead outer leaves away from the base. Once a rosette has flowered and withered (monocarpic), remove it cleanly at soil level to give neighbouring rosettes more room.
How often does heuffel's jovibarba need pruning?
As needed — once per season at most. Heuffel's Jovibarba forms tight, ground-hugging clusters and needs almost no pruning. Unlike other Jovibarba, it does not produce rolling offsets — it divides by splitting the rosette cluster. Simply remove dead or monocarpic rosettes after they flower and die, and peel away any dried outer leaves. No cutting beyond that is needed.
