How to prune grape 'himrod'

Late winter (February–March), fully dormant; avoid pruning during sharp frost or once green tips show. Cane prune to 2–4 canes of 8–12 buds each, retained on a 2-wire trellis. Remove all other one-year wood. Leave 2-bud renewal spurs at the head. In early summer pinch off excess shoot tips and remove all laterals below the lowest wire to keep the canopy open.

Annually. Grape 'Himrod' is a vigorous, early-ripening seedless white grape. It produces long, flexible canes well-suited to cane pruning. Annual hard dormant pruning is essential: fruiting occurs only on new shoots from one-year-old canes. Over-cropping weakens the vine, so also thin clusters in early summer.
