How often does golden tree fern need pruning?
As needed. Golden Tree Fern (Dicksonia fibrosa) needs minimal pruning. Remove only completely dead, brown fronds by cutting them at the base of the trunk. Like all tree ferns it has a single growing point at the crown — cutting into it is fatal. Fronds should be left to die fully before removal to allow nutrient reabsorption.
