Annually or as needed to remove dead stems and thin congested clumps. Euphorbia antisyphilitica (Candelilla) produces masses of thin, waxy, upright stems and needs little pruning as a houseplant. Trim back any dead or frost-damaged stems to the base in spring. If the clump becomes too wide for its pot, thin out older stems at soil level. Protect skin from the waxy latex, which is a mild irritant.
