How to prune encyclia tampensis

After flowers finish and the spike has dried, late summer to autumn. Snip the dried flower spike close to its base with sterile scissors. Remove any fully dead, hollow pseudobulbs by gently detaching them. Avoid disturbing the root mass during grooming.

Once per year, post-flowering. Encyclia tampensis (Florida butterfly orchid) needs very little pruning. Remove spent flower spikes at their base once blooming is fully finished and the spike has dried. Do not cut pseudobulbs unless they are completely shrivelled and dead. This species largely maintains itself with minimal intervention.
