How to prune dwarf crocus

Remove dead foliage in late spring once fully yellowed. Once foliage is entirely yellow and collapsed, pull it away gently or cut at ground level. No other pruning is required. If self-seeding is unwanted, remove spent flower heads just after petals fall.

Rarely — once per season. Dwarf Crocus (Crocus minimus) needs essentially no pruning. This small, early-spring species is best left undisturbed. Allow its narrow leaves to die back fully — around 6–8 weeks after flowering — before removing any dead growth. Do not cut or tie back green foliage. Deadheading is rarely necessary unless you want to prevent the occasional self-seeded seedling.
