How often does cork palm need pruning?
Rarely — only when fronds are fully dead or damaged. Cork Palm (Microcycas calocoma) is a critically endangered Cuban cycad requiring virtually no pruning. Remove only fronds that are fully dead or badly damaged, cutting cleanly at the frond-stalk base. This species is extremely slow-growing and long-lived — any unnecessary removal of living fronds is detrimental. Treat it as a conservation specimen and disturb it as little as possible.
