How to prune coral lily

Deadhead as flowers finish (early to midsummer); cut stems to ground after foliage yellows in autumn. Clip off spent flowers at their base with clean scissors. Leave the rest of the plant untouched until foliage is completely yellow, then cut to ground.

Annually — deadhead through bloom period, one autumn cut-back. Coral lily is a compact species lily that needs very little pruning. Deadhead spent blooms promptly to conserve bulb energy and prevent seeding. All foliage and stems must remain until they naturally yellow in autumn — cutting them early starves the bulb. Once fully senesced, cut stems to ground level and leave the bulb undisturbed.
