When should I prune common foxglove?
Deadhead main spike as flowers fade (early to midsummer); cut plants to ground in late summer after seed dispersal. Cut the central flower spike back to the base of the stem once the top two-thirds of flowers have faded — this encourages smaller lateral spikes. For self-seeding, leave one or two spikes to mature fully before removing the whole plant.
