Rarely — tidy leaves as needed, deadhead once at season end. Cockscomb requires very little pruning. The sculptural brain-like crest is a single terminal flower that cannot be replaced if removed, so do not cut it off. Remove damaged lower leaves to improve airflow. Deadhead only after the crest fully matures to collect seeds or prevent minor self-seeding.
