How to prune christmas rose

Late autumn to midwinter, just before flower buds open (November–January). Remove old, leathery leaves by cutting each leaf stem to the base of the plant. This exposes emerging flower stems and reduces the spread of hellebore leaf spot (Coniothyrium hellebori). Do not cut into the crown or remove healthy new leaves.
