How to prune calla lily

Deadhead as flowers fade; cut back fully when foliage yellows in late summer or autumn. Remove individual spent flower stems at the base with clean scissors. When the whole plant dies back naturally, cut all foliage to soil level and allow the rhizome to rest. Do not force premature removal of green leaves.

Deadhead as needed; full cut-back once per year at dormancy. Calla lily requires very little pruning. Deadhead spent flowers by cutting the stalk back to the base as each bloom fades. Leave all healthy foliage in place until it yellows and dies back naturally at the end of the growing season, then cut the entire plant back to soil level before the rhizome goes dormant.
