How to prune boysenberry

Immediately after the harvest season ends (late summer); thin and tie new canes in autumn. Cut all floricanes (canes that bore fruit) flush with the ground after picking. Select 6–8 of the strongest new primocanes, tie them along wires at roughly 15 cm intervals, and remove any remaining weak or excess canes. Remove any suckers growing outside the row.

Annually. Boysenberry is a vigorous cane fruit that requires annual pruning to stay productive. It fruits on second-year canes (floricanes). After harvest, cut all fruited canes to the ground and tie in the current season's new canes for next year's crop. Without pruning, canes tangle and yields collapse.
