How to prune blaze improved rose

Late winter to early spring; deadhead after each flush to encourage repeat bloom. In late winter, cut lateral side shoots back to 2–3 buds. Every few years, cut one or two of the oldest, most woody main canes to the base to allow vigorous new replacement canes to grow and be trained in. Tie new canes horizontally to maximise flowering laterals.

It blooms on new wood, so annual pruning of lateral shoots encourages strong new flowering growth.
