Rarely — pups once established (every 1–2 years if overcrowded). Aloe vanbalenii requires very little pruning. As a clustering, sprawling aloe it may produce offsets (pups) that can be removed and repotted to manage crowding. Otherwise, pruning is limited to trimming dried or damaged outer leaves flush to the base. Healthy leaves should never be removed — they store water and nutrients.
