Rarely — as dead growth appears; pups every 1–2 years if crowded. Aloe greatheadii requires very little pruning. This clumping rosette aloe maintains its form without intervention. Simply remove dead or dried outer leaves as they appear, cutting them off at the base. Offset pups can be separated when the clump becomes overcrowded. There is no benefit to cutting back healthy leaves on this plant.
