Any time dead leaves appear; post-flowering for rosette removal. Wearing thick gloves, use heavy-duty bypass shears to cut dead outer leaves flush to the rosette base. Remove the entire dying rosette after flowering.

Rarely — as needed. Agave parryi 'Truncata' is a compact, slow-growing rosette that needs virtually no pruning. Simply remove dead or dried outer leaves at the base as they appear. Never trim the tightly packed leaves for shape — doing so damages the plant permanently. After it flowers once and dies, remove the spent rosette.
