How to prune aeonium sunburst

Late summer to autumn, when aeoniums are in active growth. Cut leggy bare stems back to a healthy side bud or branching point with clean pruners. Removed rosette tops root readily in dry compost — press the cut end in after a day's callusing.

As needed — typically once a year or after flowering. Aeonium 'Sunburst' rarely needs pruning. Remove spent rosettes after they flower and die (aeoniums are monocarpic per rosette). Leggy stems can be cut back to encourage branching, or the top rosette removed and re-rooted. General tidying involves removing dead outer leaves throughout the year.
