Yellowish Miltonia problems — and how to fix them
Yellowish Miltonia (Miltonia flavescens) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Pseudobulb shrivelling in heat
During very hot summer spells, pseudobulbs can shrivel from water demand outpacing uptake. Increase watering frequency and move to a slightly shadier, cooler spot temporarily.
Fungal rot at pseudobulb sheaths
Old papery sheaths around pseudobulbs trap moisture and harbour fungal or bacterial rot. Remove spent sheaths carefully and ensure good air movement around the plant base.
Leaf yellowing
Yellowing of lower leaves can indicate either natural senescence or a nitrogen deficiency. If new growth is affected, increase fertiliser frequency. Check also for waterlogged roots.
