Yellow Clivia problems — and how to fix them
Yellow Clivia (Clivia miniata var. citrina) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
No flowers
Almost always a missed cool, dry winter rest (6-10 weeks near 10°C and barely watered), or too much nitrogen, repotting, or excess warmth keeping the plant in leaf mode.
Scorched, bleached leaves
Direct midday sun burns the foliage and washes out the delicate yellow blooms; move to bright indirect light.
Root and crown rot
Overwatering or a dense, water-retentive mix rots the fleshy roots; use a fast-draining bark blend and let the surface dry between drinks.
Mealybugs
