Verity's Liveforever problems — and how to fix them
Verity's Liveforever (Dudleya verityi) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Crown rot in summer
The primary killer: any moisture during warm dormancy rots the crown within days. Ensure the plant is completely dry from June to September and kept in a well-ventilated, cooler position.
Scale insects
Armoured scale can encrust leaf bases, appearing as brownish bumps. Scrape off with a soft brush and treat with horticultural oil in the cool season (avoid oil on the farina). Monitor regularly.
Farina loss from handling
The powdery white coating is the plant's natural UV and moisture protection. Contact removes it permanently. Minimise handling and never apply foliar sprays directly to the rosette.
