Velvet Sage problems — and how to fix them
Velvet Sage (Salvia atrocyanea) is generally low-drama, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.

The heavy flower-bearing branches can droop and topple in wind or rain; insert grow-through supports early in the season before stems become too tall.
Frost damage
Tuberous roots are killed by hard frosts in zones below 8; in borderline areas, apply a thick layer of dry mulch over the crown in autumn or lift tubers after the first frost.
