Tassel Fern problems — and how to fix them
Tassel Fern (Polystichum polyblepharum) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Brown, crispy frond tips
Usually low humidity or dry soil. Raise humidity and keep the soil evenly moist; trim damaged fronds at the base.
Yellowing fronds
Often overwatering or a waterlogged crown. Improve drainage and let the top of the soil dry slightly between waterings.
Scorched, bleached fronds
Too much direct sun. Move to dappled or indirect light; this fern is built for shade.
Slow or stalled growth
