Sodiros Monopyle problems — and how to fix them
Sodiros Monopyle (Monopyle sodiroana) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Desiccation in low humidity
Foliage wilts rapidly when ambient humidity drops below 60%. Maintain a closed terrarium environment or sealed propagation case. Symptoms include limp, softened leaves; increase humidity immediately to recover.
Fungal rot at the crown
Waterlogging combined with poor drainage causes crown rot in the dense hooked trichomes that trap moisture. Ensure the substrate base layer drains freely and avoid direct watering onto the crown.
Slow or absent growth
Often caused by inadequate warmth (below 16°C) or insufficient light. Ensure minimum temperatures of 18°C and provide supplemental grow lighting if natural light is very low.
Prevent sodiros monopyle problems before they start
Most sodiros monopyle issues are care-mismatch, not bad luck. Dial in the basics:
