Soap Aloe problems — and how to fix them
Soap Aloe (Aloe maculata) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Root and crown rot
From overwatering or water pooling in the rosette. Use gritty mix, water at the base, and let it dry between waterings.
Faded markings / no flowers
Too little light dulls the spots and suppresses blooming. Give full sun.
Aloe mite galls
Lumpy growths on leaves and flower stalks from gall mite. Cut out and dispose of affected parts promptly.
Mealybugs
Cluster in leaf axils and among offsets. Treat with alcohol or insecticidal soap and improve airflow.
