Scurfy Laelia problems — and how to fix them
Scurfy Laelia (Laelia furfuracea) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Failure to flower
The most common cause is skipping the summer dry rest or inadequate cool autumn nights. Both signals are required: reduce watering dramatically from May–August and ensure night temperatures below 14°C from September onward.
Root rot from overwatering
This species is especially sensitive to wet medium during rest periods. Roots blacken and pseudobulbs shrivel beyond normal rest-shrivelling. Repot promptly into clean coarse bark after trimming all dead roots.
Spider mites in hot dry conditions
