Round-leaf Rosularia problems — and how to fix them
Round-leaf Rosularia (Rosularia globulariifolia) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Crown rot in wet winters
The combination of cold and wet soil is the chief killer. In rainy climates, protect with an open cloche or grow under eaves. In pots, move under cover in winter and virtually cease watering.
Vine weevil grubs
The fleshy roots are attractive to vine weevil larvae, which devour them from below, causing the plant to collapse. Apply a nematode soil drench (Steinernema kraussei) in late summer/early autumn as a preventive measure.
