Orpheus Flower problems — and how to fix them
Orpheus Flower (Haberlea rhodopensis) is generally low-drama, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Crown rot from water accumulation
The most common cause of death in cultivation; water sitting in the rosette, especially in winter, causes rapid bacterial or fungal rot — always plant in a tilted or vertical position and protect from prolonged rain.
Slugs and snails
Confirmed by the RHS as a susceptibility; slugs rasp holes in the soft, hairy leaves at night — use grit mulch around the plant and check under the pot regularly, particularly in damp weather.
