Ord River Sundew problems — and how to fix them

Ord River Sundew (Drosera ordensis) is generally low-drama, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.

Failure to produce dew in low humidity

Glands produce little or no mucilage when relative humidity drops below 40% or when the plant is heat-stressed. Increase ambient humidity with a tray of wet pebbles or move to a more enclosed growing space.

Rhizome rot after the monsoon season

Reducing watering too slowly when the plant enters its dry rest, especially at lower temperatures, promotes Pythium and other root pathogens. Taper watering gradually over 2–3 weeks as temperatures rise towards the end of the wet season in cultivation.
