Nandina Liriope problems — and how to fix them
Nandina Liriope (Liriope muscari 'Big Blue') is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Crown and root rot
The one common killer is soggy soil; waterlogged crowns rot. Plant in well-draining soil and avoid overwatering, especially in containers without drainage.

Evergreen leaves can look ragged or browned after a hard winter. Shear the whole clump to near ground level in early spring before new growth pushes through.
