Mundu problems — and how to fix them
Mundu (Garcinia dulcis) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Fruit fly infestation
Fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) target ripening fruit. Use exclusion bags on developing fruit, pheromone traps, or protein bait sprays. Remove and dispose of fallen fruit promptly.
Fungal leaf spots
Warm, humid conditions can promote Colletotrichum or Phytophthora infections. Improve airflow, avoid overhead watering, and treat with a copper-based fungicide if lesions appear.
Slow germination
Seeds can take six months or more to germinate even when sown fresh. Sow immediately after extraction from ripe fruit; dried seeds rarely germinate.
