Longan problems — and how to fix them
Longan (Dimocarpus longan) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Alternate (biennial) bearing
Longan often crops heavily one year then lightly the next; thinning fruit and steady feeding help even out yields.
Poor flowering
Needs a cool, dry winter to initiate flowers; warm winters and high nitrogen favour leaf flushes over bloom.
Iron chlorosis
