Kohleria amabilis problems — and how to fix them
Kohleria amabilis (Kohleria amabilis) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Leaf spotting
Caused by water or cold droplets sitting on the hairy leaves. Water at the base or from below and avoid misting the foliage.

Sudden dieback to rhizomes
Often a natural semi-dormancy, not death. Keep the rhizomes barely moist and growth resumes; lift and store them if the plant fully rests.

Wet, compacted soil rots the surface-running rhizomes. Use an airy mix, water moderately, and ease right back in winter.
