Hairy Aichryson problems — and how to fix them
Hairy Aichryson (Aichryson villosum) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Stem base rot
The densely hairy stem surface wicks moisture toward the base, making stem rot at soil level a common issue. Use a grit surface mulch, water only at the base, and ensure the pot drains fully after watering.
Mould on foliage in humid conditions
The dense pubescence traps humid air, creating conditions for botrytis or surface mould. Improve ventilation, reduce ambient humidity, and remove any affected leaves promptly to prevent spread.
Leggy growth in low light
