Greenstem Forsythia problems — and how to fix them
Greenstem Forsythia (Forsythia viridissima) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Sparse bloom from mistimed pruning
Flowers form on the previous year's stems. Pruning after midsummer removes the buds; always prune within a few weeks of flowering finishing.
