Golden Club problems — and how to fix them

Golden Club is slow to settle and may produce few flowers in years 1–2. Avoid moving or disturbing the crown — patience is required as roots anchor into deep mud.
Foul-smelling spent flower spikes
Decaying flower stalks produce an unpleasant odour and can harbour fungal issues. Remove faded spikes promptly by cutting at the base.
Leaf roll / tip scorch in hot weather
Prolonged temperatures above 30°C in exposed ponds can stress leaves. Deeper planting (to 40 cm) moderates root-zone temperature; gentle water movement also helps.
