Beautiful Gastrochilus problems — and how to fix them
Beautiful Gastrochilus (Gastrochilus bellinus) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Root desiccation
The most critical issue; mounted plants with exposed roots dry out rapidly. Maintain high humidity and mist roots daily in dry conditions.
Leaf tip browning
Caused by low humidity, fluoride in tap water, or salt build-up from fertiliser. Use soft water, maintain high humidity, and flush mounts regularly.
Mealybug
