Beautiful Besleria problems — and how to fix them
Beautiful Besleria (Besleria formosa) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Root and stem rot
Caused by consistently waterlogged soil. Ensure the pot has drainage holes and that soil dries slightly at the surface between waterings. Reduce watering immediately if stems feel soft at the base.
Leaf spot and fungal disease
High humidity combined with poor air circulation can trigger fungal leaf spots. Avoid wetting foliage; provide gentle airflow and remove affected leaves promptly.
Failure to bloom
Usually caused by insufficient light or low humidity. Move to a brighter, filtered-light position and raise humidity above 60%. Repotting into slightly phosphorus-rich fertiliser also helps trigger flowering.
Prevent beautiful besleria problems before they start
Most beautiful besleria issues are care-mismatch, not bad luck. Dial in the basics:
