Basket Plant problems — and how to fix them
Basket Plant (Callisia fragrans) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Leggy rosettes and stretched runners
Too little light. Move to bright indirect light with some gentle sun to keep the rosettes compact.
Rotting central crown
Water collecting in the rosette or overly wet soil. Water at the soil, not the crown, and let the mix dry between drinks.
No purple color or flowers
Light is too low to trigger pigment and blooms. Increase brightness, including some direct morning sun.
