Angelica problems — and how to fix them
Angelica (Angelica archangelica) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Premature bolting
Heat and drought stress push the plant to flower and set seed early, after which it dies. Keep it cool, shaded, and consistently moist to prolong its leafy years.
Aphids on flower stems
The lush hollow stems and umbels attract aphids. Blast off with water or tolerate them, as the flowers also draw beneficial predatory insects and pollinators.
