Flowering maple problems — and how to fix them
Flowering maple (Abutilon × hybridum) is generally forgiving once you match its basics, but a few issues come up again and again. Here is what each one looks like, why it happens, and the fix.
Sudden leaf and flower drop
Usually a stress response to the soil drying out, cold draughts, or temperatures below about 13°C (55°F).
Leggy, sparse growth with few flowers
Too little light or no pinching — move to a brighter spot and pinch back the brittle stems.
